Tchaikovsky 4

Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony begins with a shattering brass fanfare — the “fate" theme that is heard in three of the work’s four movements. Violinist Irina Simon-Renes tells us what in particular moves her about Tchaikovsky's symphony, a work that dramatizes the power of fate.

Bruckner 7

Up until the premiere of his Seventh Symphony, real success had evaded Anton Bruckner — but the tides changed with this work.
