Enno Poppe will take over for Ilan Volkov

The conductor Ilan Volkov had to cancel his engagements at Lucerne Festival for the following week due to illness within his family.

We are glad that the composer and conductor Enno Poppe will take over for him the musical direction of the concert on Saturday, 4 September at 18.30. The programme remains unchanged. Among other works, it will feature the world premiere of the “Roche Commissions”, to an utterance for piano and orchestra by “composer in residence” Rebecca Saunders, with the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra and the pianist Nicolas Hodges. In addition, Poppe will take over the musical direction of the Masterclass in Conducting on Wednesday, 1 September, and of the two “40min” on 31 August and 1 September.
